About Me

What do you believe?  About life, about love, about God?  What is life for?

I have asked these questions and have come to one conclusion.  Life begins at the moment of surrender.  Not just a surrender to anything that would be deemed conducive to attain happiness.  That is relative to a perspective of values that shift according to the priorities du jour.

I am a 43 year old, widow and once divorced female, who proclaims Jesus as Savior and Lord.  This means a life that has been surrendered to lived for him instead of me.  And every questioned asked above, has been found in Him.

What do I believe? I believe in truth.  Jesus said in John 14:6 “I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but by me”. He is the only path to God, the only appropriate sacrifice for sin to appease the righteousness of God that demands a payment for that sin, the only true Savior.  He is God who was made flesh for us because God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten, that whoesoever believes in Him will have eternal life.

I believe that the truth of who God is and why he created us is found in scripture, the Holy Bible.  Many people have read the bible but have produced an overwhelming divergence of views that sometimes makes it confusing to understand what to believe.  But God reveals Himself what He has intended for us to know, through the penning of 66 books by various authors of varying personalities and writing styles, through different times and intricately interwoven to declare God’s redemptive plan for His creation.  The bible is 100% inspired by God and these authors were moved by the Holy Spirit to reveal the heart of God (II Peter 1:21,22).  So truth can be found in determining the author’s intention of writing, the historical-cultural-grammitical context and a comparision of scripture to the whole counsel of scripture pointing to God’s redemptive plan.

I believe that understanding what the bible really says requires us first to be regenerated by the Holy Spirit.  This is the surrender that recognizes that we are sinners and need a Savior and trust in what Jesus did on the cross.  The unregerate mind cannot understand the things of God.  Second, we must lay aside our perspective and agendas and let the bible say what it wants to say.  Lastly, we must be humble and accept what the bible says, even if it hurts and requires us to change.

So about me?  My desire is to share the truth of the bible with people.  For the unbeliever, the agnostic or the atheist that may mean pointing to the need for a Savior.  For the christian, it may mean working together to understand scripture and sorting out conflicting passages.

So what do you believe?  I would love for you to pick my brain.  I cannot guarantee much but it’s fun to try.  And if you tell me what you believe, don’t be surprised if I ask you..why do you believe that?
